Miscarriage is the loss of a pregnancy before the 20th week of pregnancy. Miscarriage is a common condition and can occur for many reasons, including genetic problems, maternal health issues, or problems with the uterus or placenta.
Types of abortion
Spontaneous abortion: occurs without external intervention and is often due to problems with the pregnancy itself.
Possible miscarriage: When signs that may lead to miscarriage appear but the pregnancy is not lost.
Incomplete miscarriage: Part of the pregnancy tissue leaves the uterus but part remains inside.
Complete miscarriage: the expulsion of all pregnancy tissue from the uterus.
Miscarriage tests
Ultrasound examination: to determine whether the fetus is still growing inside the uterus and to check for a fetal heartbeat.
Blood test: To measure levels of the pregnancy hormone (hCG) to determine whether hormone levels are rising as expected during pregnancy.
Hysteroscopy: In certain cases, to check the health of the uterus and diagnose problems such as uterine abnormalities or the presence of fibroids.
Physical examination: This includes a pelvic examination to assess the condition of the cervix and the size of the uterus.
